News/non-native: Arthur C. Clarke Award shortlist announced

The Arthur C. Clarke Award is given to the best sci-fi novel published in the U.K. in a calendar year. The 2008 winner will be announced on April 29. Here's the shortlist:

Song of Time by Ian R. MacLeod (PS Publishing)

The Quiet War by Paul McAuley (Gollancz)

House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds (Gollancz)

Anathem by Neal Stephenson (Atlantic)

The Margarets by Sheri S. Tepper (Gollancz)

    I guess you're allowed... as long as you've read all the Miles Franklins! (Well, at least The Slap... goddit for xmas from my Bro. Still savouring it.)

    Certainly have read Teh Slap, all my stats lead to my review. It is taking some of the fun out of stats, unfortunately ( in the nicest possible way.)
